I remember the day like it was yesterday… I know I know everyone says that but I really do. It was about 14 years ago when I sat down with a good friend of mine who is unfortunately no longer with us who started a large digital agency in Phoenix. I’ve been in marketing for about 25 year now and the digital space interested me. So, I met with him regulary and we had “geek” ouy sessions where we discussed “Building Epic!” I was like a sponge wanting to know more and more about Websites, SEO, Social Media etc. While we regulary met he told me you need to meet one of my best friends… his name is Bryan Buchan and he is great with websites and loves the digital space so of course I said yes and I even remember the converstation. Hey Bryan, this is Ken Scheer. Kevin sent me your way I would love to chat with you more and discuss how I might be able to send you some web builds from time to time. I literally remember where in my house I was when I made this call and I’m surely glad that I did! Bryan is built from the same cloth, has had a lot of experience with the large agencies and just like we wanted to offer something more personable.
So, around this time I slowly started letting my contacts know what I was doing, I was picking up random consulting gigs from time to time and mywife said, “put your time and energy into starting this business, you will be great at it!” Well, the rest was history and Build Epic Consulting was formed in June of 2016.
This isn’t my first business but I wanted to build an agency using the values that my parents instilled upon me a long time ago. I wanted to help companies, be fair, offer great services all while giving my clients the time they deserved. Many people will use the term “boutique” agency and that is exactly what we are. Build Epic was never formed to compete on the large scale of the bigger agencies where you have a account manager that is helping you and 30 plus other clients. It is an agency where you have access to the owners, the support you need, and the ideas of a staff that have a combined marketing experience of well over 75 plus years.
